"I was speaking to a student who splits her day between the highschool and Whitmer Virtual School. She came up to me to share an experience she had with Mr. Whetstone. Not only does Nick spend his time encouraging students to recover credits in the virtual school, but apparently he also takes his time to tutor students who are struggling with their regular Whitmer classes.
The way her eyes lit up when she explained her experience with him using google maps to explain how the Panama Canal works tells me everything I need to know about him as an educator. She went on to say, "He helps lots of kids like that!" Nick Whetstone is one of the many reasons that I point to for why, as an educator, I choose WLS for my own children. Well done!"
How can you ever quantify the impact of a teacher who takes the time to care?
Way to go, Mr. Whetstone!

"Mrs. Rex continuously goes above and beyond for her students! She spends much of her own time creating resources to relate to her students and make their learning more engaging. She can also be found at any of the school events that are put on after school hours which makes my daughter even more excited to attend these events! Mrs. Rex is a wonderful role model for all Meadowvale students to look up to!"

"I want to give a shout-out to Mrs. Worstell (Nurse,. Whitmer) for being such an incredible support in our school. She doesn’t just do her job — she truly cares. She listens without judgment, notices when something’s off, and always makes time for students even on her busiest days. Her kindness, patience, and calmness make such a huge difference. Thank you, Mrs. Worstell, for making our school feel like a safe place and for being someone students can trust. You’re appreciated far more than you know. "
Ms. Worstell has helped SO MANY students with stories like these - and staff too!
As our reliable, steady voice of calm in scary situations, Whitmer is LUCKY to have her!

"Mr. Phil Schiffler offered to come to an important meeting for my daughter even though he didn’t have to be there, he knew his support would help my daughter through the meeting. Ever since meeting her in 7th grade he has always been very kind, understanding and supportive of her. He definitely understands kids in a different way and is always there to help and offer advice. Mr. Schiffer is an outstanding teacher and Jefferson is very lucky to have him."
Imagine being known for making a child feel safe. THE BEST COMPLIMENT! Way to go Mr. Schiffler!

"We want to give a massive shout-out and heartfelt thank you to Gaylene McGrath and Nicole Fall (Hiwatha cafeteria) for everything you do day in and day out. While teachers and students often get the spotlight, you are the true unsung heroes behind the scenes, fueling our school community with much more than just food.
Whether you're serving up lunch, remembering a student's favorite meal, or simply taking the time to make a child feel seen and valued, your kindness and dedication shines through. You make the student's birthday a special day by singing during their lunch session. Your warm smiles, personal touches, and the genuine care you show to the children every day truly makes a difference!
Your job is hard work, yet you approach it with a positive attitude and a commitment to the students that is truly inspiring.
Thank you for being our "Super Lunch Heroes." We appreciate you both more than words can express!
Love, your Hiawatha Family!"

"I was in the classroom with Ms. Bronko (Meadowvale) and I absolutely love her ways. She makes her students feel at home and loved. She has a couple students that take more attention, and when they act out she handles the situations so well. She is doing amazing as a second year teacher and the kids are so lucky to have her!"

"Mr. Thompson is an incredible teacher and person. He explains his subject in a way that is easy to understand and learn. Beyond that, he does a great job checking in on students both academically and personally. The district is blessed to have a teacher like him."
Having a student attest that our staff cares is the BEST compliment we can receive - and Mr. Thompson fully deserves this one!

When needed Mr. Ruiz is always willing to lend a helping hand , he's always willing to listen to someone's day or help when someone is feeling down.He always brings a smile to a room whilst also helping students with his work. He is a loving human who has always wanted to share his love with others. Mr Ruiz has helped many of me and my friends so much. Forever grateful and he's made a huge impact on lots of individuals.
2. Mr.Ruiz is one of the reasons that I made it through middle school. He made me feel better every time I was upset or having a horrible day. I would tell him all of my problems and drama and he would give me so much good advice and he just made every day an amazing day. He would always compliment my outfits and hair and that made me have a good day. He is just an amazing teacher and so many people can say the same thing. Thank you so much Mr.Ruiz, I honestly don't know what I would've done without you to help me.
3. He always brings a great and positive attitude and always has a bright smile. Always brings the vibes.
Their words say it all! We love our supportive staff!
