Staff-to-Staff Shoutout:
"Carli has stepped up in big ways at Shoreland this year. She does a fantastic job juggling her full plate & still finds ways to help students who need her daily. On top of her already hectic schedule, she is always finding ways to 'be there' for kids!"
Our buildings (and our students' smiles!) shine every day because of the work of these wonderful humans. We are so grateful for our WLS Custodial Crew!

Yesterday Mr. MacKenzie's Biology 2 and Environmental Science students released captive-raised monarch butterflies in our own prairie. They were tagged with tags from Monarch Watch and the tag numbers were added to a database so that they can be tracked if they are recaptured!
Miss Jess (an amazing Washington custodian) stopped by study hall before a game & asked if the team ever ate before a game. The answer was 'only if they bring something.' So, before their home game against Fassett, Miss Jess supplied pizza for a team dinner! She is so awesome!
Mr. MacKenzie, (wife, Kara and Meaghan from ODNRs H2Ohio) took the Whitmer Science Environmental Club on a kayaking trip on the Maumee River! They paddled around Audubon Island - a state nature preserve and saw bald eagles and other wildlife along the way. Thank you, Mr. M!

STAFF-TO-STAFF SHOUTOUT:
I would like to do a staff to staff shout out for Margaret Youngs & Theresa Laser.
These ladies have it ALL and give their ALL! They are our front line! Friendly, conscientious, and dedicated...WONDERFUL HUMANS!!!
Mrs. Youngs- goes above and beyond to help ensure that all of our staff is taken care of. She’s extremely knowledgeable, kind to students and willing to help where needed. Whether it is finding coverage for our classrooms, answering phone calls, developing the master schedule, creating schedules for new students, running grades or simply listening to us staff members talk about our families and personal lives, Mrs. Youngs is an asset to Washington Junior High and we are so lucky to have her in our building. She is family to all of us!
Mrs. Laser- Mrs. Laser runs the show with our students each day. She is the first face you see when entering Washington. She makes sure every student and staff member is safe with her screening process as people enter the building. She is very organized for our attendance each day and we appreciate her staying on top of our daily attendance. She often has students in her office and does a great job of making sure everyone is on task. She is so kind and willing to help wherever needed. Mrs. Laser also listens to us staff members talk about our families and personal lives. She is family to all of us!"
WOW. What a double-dose of goodness!
We are so grateful for the work of our IT/Tech Team in WLS. They troubleshoot, assist and rescue our staff from technology issues DAILY and we could not do what we do without their unwavering support. Thank you DIS Team!
STAFF SHOUTOUT:
MANY thanks to Susan Mee who diligently takes care of our Meadowvale staff, students, and community. Last week, Susan recognized our kitchen staff, who have been working in hot conditions, by making them a homemade lunch. Not only did Susan make everything herself, she organized the lunch in a cool area and ensured the staff had plenty of time for fellowship before serving lunch to our students. Mrs. Mee is an integral part of the Meadowvale community and we are SO lucky to have her as part of our team!"
Empathy is one of our Portrait of a Panther competencies and Ms. Mee exemplifies this daily!
