Research shows that attendance is an important factor in student achievement both now and throughout adulthood.
If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors and other parents for advice on how to make your child feel comfortable and excited about learning
Try to schedule non-urgent related medical appointments and extended trips when school isn’t in session.
Routines and planning help children with stress and anxiety and help understand the importance of addressing what we need before what we want.
Shoreland Attendance Tree:
Welcome to our special Attendance Tree! You can see that our big, colorful tree is made from construction paper and hangs proudly in our school lobby. This tree will help us keep track of our daily attendance as we count down to Winter Break!
Each day we will mark our total number of all students in attendance by placing festive ornaments on different levels of the tree. The tree is divided into sections, so when more students are present, we’ll put ornaments higher up on the tree. The star on the tree represents our entire student body, 643 students. Our goal is to make the tree very “top heavy,” which means we want to have lots of students here and fewer absences.
Let’s work together to fill our Christmas Tree with beautiful ornaments and show our school spirit by coming to school every day!
