Bus Safety Rules
Welcome to Transportation
The mission of Washington Local Schools’ Transportation Department is to maintain a safe, clean bus fleet; transport and aid district students in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner, and achieve a spirit of respect and fairness towards one another that results in a positive educational and working experience for all.
State regulations require transportation for students in grades K-8 living over two miles from the school they attend. Washington Local provides transportation for students living over one mile from the building to which they are assigned.
Bus routes and schedules are distributed to parents of children in the program at the beginning of each school year; they are also available on line. Students should report to their designated bus stops five minutes prior to scheduled stop times.
Washington Local’s bus fleet transports more than 4,968 students daily to and from the High School, two Junior Highs, 8 Elementary Schools and shuttles 5 Parochial Schools, adding up to 397,854 miles per year.
