Office of the Superintendent

Kristine Martin - Superintendent

Every Student Matters. Every Moment Counts.

A lifelong educator, Kristie Martin is honored to assume the role of Superintendent of Washington Local Schools. Starting as a 4th grade teacher, Kristie moved on to leadership roles in the district as an Elementary Principal, Junior High Principal, Principal of Whitmer High School and most recently, Assistant Superintendent of Washington Local Schools.

As Assistant Superintendent, Martin was responsible for the coordination of security initiatives including key fobs throughout the district, a full-scale vulnerability assessment to identify existing safety issues, and institution of visitor check-in systems to preserve the security of our buildings.

She has provided guidance and support to school principals and has experience in all aspects of school operations.

Personally, Kristie spends her free time with her husband John (a Whitmer Grad and Toledo firefighter) and their children - Son Brody and daughter Rylee and Son-in-Law Caden, (all Whitmer grads) at their family cottage.

An avid proponent for education, Martin has a passion for inspiring young people’s interests and has devoted herself entirely to WLS.

She is excited to continue the momentum of so many great things happening in Washington Local!
